Love Your Gut Powder

Love Your Gut Powder has a very simple and natural approach to gut health. As many gut issues can be traced back to an unclean and inefficient digestive tract, Love Your Gut Powder contains naturopathic grade, organic Diatomaceous Earth which helps to clean out the accumulated build-up of waste, toxins, metals and mucous in the digestive tract. It’s also anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic. You will notice that you’ll have better digestion, waste removal and increased nutrient absorption.  Like your teeth, plaque and waste continually build up within your digestive tract so it’s beneficial to ‘sweep away’ these impurities on a daily basis and keep your colon toned, clean and efficient.

Did you know you have over ten metres of small and large intestines? And both have turns and kinks throughout. All food and drink travel through this system and disperse nutrition and hydration. But with today’s diet and hectic lifestyle the intestines may develop a build-up of waste products such as plaque, acids, mucus, fungus and bacteria. This may result in a poor, inefficient digestion, lack of nutrient absorption and a build-up of gas, wind and bloating. Clean, efficient intestines may lead to better digestion, waste removal and nutrient absorption.

Kirah says:
DE changed my life and helped me cure a parasite infection from my years traveling and teaching in 3rd world countries that I had no idea I even had and that was causing many health issues. Not only that but it's helped me to lose over 45 lbs of the 90 I gained having my kids that I simply could not rid myself of. Lastly - it reversed tooth decay in a molar to the point that I didn't need to have it filled. I'm a total convert!
Jesse L says:
I love this product!! In the three weeks I tried it I felt less bloated, my sugar cravings reduced, I noticed my meals were getting smaller and my skin began to glow.
Lesley M says:
My gut has never felt so good - and I didn't think I had a problem in the first place! One thing that is a daily ritual now and goes everywhere with me is the LYG Powder. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I have it every day in smoothies - which I start the day with.

What is the recommended daily dosage per day? How many servings per packet ? And does it have directions of how and when to take it?

    • lee

Hi Claire, We suggest 1 level tablespoon twice a day before meals. Follow with plenty of water through the day. There’s 200g which amounts to at least 4-6 weeks of powder.

I’ve just ordered this product as I suspect a parasite in my gut. Am very much looking forward to receiving & using it! I have a couple of questions though:

1: How long does it take to completely rid parasitic infestation?
2: Is it safe to give to my 2.8mth old also?

    Many thanks,

    • lee

It is a completely natural product but we recommend talking to your medical professional when it comes to children. It depends on the severity of the infection and everyone is different I have had people who have had great results in just four weeks but there is no definitive time frame. As it is a gentle product it can take longer than harsher treatments.

    Hi Lee,

I am looking at trying this.
    Just a question:

How many grams do you use a tablespoon? Just wondering, because I know 1 tbsp = 15gm thats almost 30 gms a day. I don’t see how 250gms would last 4-6 weeks.

    • lee

You need to build up to 2 Tbs a day but start with a teaspoon a day first. Some people use a tablespoon a day but if you really want to you can use 2 tbs a day.

Hi there. Is this product good/beneficial for leaky gut (which is what I have) or is it more of a fibre clean out your bowels type product?

    • lee

Yes It’s good for helping absorption and cleansing.

Hi, Can you please explain the difference between naturopathic grade and food grade? Why is this not classified as food grade?

    • lee

Our diatomaceous earth has been approved by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand. (They reassuringly have strict criteria so I can’t guarantee the few diatomaceous earth products on the market also meet their standards).

Like salt there are many grades – Celtic sea salt to pool salt. It’s the same with diatomaceous earth. Supercharged Food’s diatomaceous earth is food-grade and approved for human consumption at the dosage indicated on the pack.

Naturopathic-grade comes from the many naturopaths who recommend Supercharged Food’s diatomaceous earth. In my research for purest sources I worked with a number of Naturopaths to ensure the highest quality available. Supercharged Food’s diatomaceous earth is exclusively sourced from USA. I tried sources from around the world in over two years of research, composition analysis and testing. Our USA source was by far and away the purest.

Hi i suffer from an auto-immune disease called Ulcerative Colitis. I am not sure if you know much about it but it is similar to Crohns but it effects the colon. I am wondering if this power will help me? Or can you suggest any other products you have on your website that can help me with the pain and bloating.

    • lee

Hi Charlie, yes it can help in the sense it cleans very gently the gut so you can have more energy and absorb your food better and it gets rid of any build up in your gut. In regards to UC and pain and bloating ingredients can contribute to this so I suggest looking at your diet things like slippery elm and aloe are really good for soothing pain and bone births and good fats in moderation and anti inflammatory ingredients like turmeric. I have over 100 gut healing recipes in the book or some on the blog you might want to look at and try. Lee

Hi. Your product sounds amazing and I’m sure I would really benefit from using it. But I noticed there is copper listed, is it ok to take when I have high pyrroles? Or will it pass through with all the other nasties?

    • lee

Yes it is ok every food has traces of these elements and they are minuscule amounts. In the case of the d earth powder, yes they pass through with the other nasties.

Hi Lee, is this the same as slippery elm??

    • lee

no it doesn’t act in the same way as slippery elm. This is more of a gentle cleansing food which sweeps away bad bacteria from the gut.

  27. Rated 4 out of 5

Question- how long should you take it? Is this something you do as cleanse for a few moths then take a break or is it to be taken daily on an ongoing basis?

    • lee

It depends on the person as to how long they want to take it for but as it’s a food you can take it daily for long term gut health.

Question: I have just received Heal Your Gut Powder. I started on Friday and using 2 tablespoons a day – one morning before breakfast and one evening before dinner. Is this correct? I notice you mention starting with 1 teaspoon and building up to the tablespoon but this is not mentioned on the packaging. Just want to make sure I follow the directions properly.

    • lee

Start slow if you have concerns and build up to the recommended dose 🙂

I’d like to try this for my leaky gut but the idea of injesting what’s normally used to kill bedbugs doesn’t sit well with me. Where can I find more information about the product’s approval for human consumption in Australia?

    • lee

There are different types of D-earth available… ours is food grade of the highest quality its like comparing sea salt to pool salt so ensure you are buying the right grade if you are thinking about purchasing it. Ours meets all the strict criteria of Food Standards Australia where it is approved for human consumption but I cannot speak for all diatomaceous earth on the market.

Hi, I just received this yesterday and I have started using it, I just wondered if its usual to kind of feel sluggish? Lethargic. My head is aching (not like a headache), I feel like I do when I have gone on a cleanse for the first few days, when you cut out coffee/sugar. Is this ‘normal’?

Also, do you have any stockists in NSW on the Central Coast?

yes it can be a slight detox reaction so halve the dose and take it slow. Email me and I can send you a stockist list

Hi Lee, I’ve been using this for around 6 months now and love it. I have two queries ::

Just recently I was told not to take it alongside my other supplements ( I usually put it in my green smoothie with my powder probiotic etc to save time and so don’t forget them). Is this correct? Does it conflict with any supplements being taken at same time?

I was also told that it can unbalance gut flora if taken ongoing and that it should be used on and off to restore good gut flora in between?? Bit confused now. Is this correct?

Look forward to finding out so I can continue taking it. Thanks

    • lee

it doesn’t unbalance gut flora and helps other supplements be absorbed effectively. Best way to take it is on its own or next best with other supps.

From Angela; My chiropractor had been telling me that he was having a lot of problems with his stomach – constant pain, bloating, possibly IBS and his energy levels were extremely low. I recommended the Heal Your Gut powder, and when I saw him a week later, he was so thankful. He said he went home, told his mum about the powder, and she said that she had Lee Holmes Heal Your Gut book at home. So for a week, in conjunction with the powder, he started following Lee’s healing program. In just one week, he said he has felt better than he ever has. He has so much more energy, he doesn’t have the gut pain anymore, isn’t having the “bad” food cravings and generally just feels amazing, and has even lost some excess weight!!! He’s really excited to keep going with it for the next 3 weeks, to see even more positive results!

I have tried adible bentonite clay before. Is your heal your gut powder similar to bentonite clay? I was wondering if the heal your gut powder absorbs lots of water and can become a cause of constipation. And I have heard Diatomaceous Earth can be used like clay mask or clay bath, can I use your heal your gut powder for bath and masks? And does Diatomaceous Earth have benefits for skin as well?
Sorry to ask many questions at once… But I am excited about trying your powder 🙂
Thank you for your help in advance!

    • lee

I’m not very familiar with Bentonite clay. I have used d earth for over five years. It’s a raw wholefood (I’m not sure B clay is classified a food).

It shouldn’t cause constipation, most feedback says it helps people become more regular (it’s in no way a laxative though). Some people, however, may experience blockage when they start a detox regime

D earth is wonderful as a mask or in a bath. It has high absorbable silica so great for hair, skin, nails and soothing muscles.

    Hi Lee,
Have been taking the powder once a day for about a week and a half, I suspect I have lots of gut issues… IBS, long term anti-depressants use etc so might need a lot of work to fix!! I have been having a range of symptoms since starting the powder such as cramping, headaches and itchy skin. Is this normal? If so, when should I see an improvement? Cheers

    • lee

It can happen as a detox reaction so I recommend having lots of water with it and starting really slowly on a low dose

Hi I am interested in purchasing this product but am very wary as I have read that if you inhale some of the powder it can damage your lungs and also the diamateous (not on your website) is described as having glass like shards that travel
down to clean up your colon. Hoping you can give me some clear advise. I have also read somewhere that it gets rid of parasites, but im not aware of how one would know if you have them or not, is there a specific test that is done for this. Thankyou

    • lee

Hi Della, thanks for your interest in our D Earth powder.

Most relevant is our D Earth powder is highest quality food-grade. It is safe to handle and consume. It meets the strict criteria of Food Standards Australia New Zealand. There’s many different grades of D Earth and some are dangerous to inhale and consume as they have a different mineral composition (other minerals and/or chemicals are present)

Supercharged D Earth is very fine and gentle on your digestive system (again, some other grades aren’t the same quality). I liken it to an internal toothbrush for your intestinal walls. I’ve used it everyday for over five years with only great effects.

Hi Lee, I notice you say this product gets rid of bad bacteria in the gut, How does it not excrete the good guys along with them?

    • lee

the bacteria (positive ions) are attracted to the negative ions in the d earth enveloping it and sweeping it gently from the body.

    Hello Lee,
I started taking your gut healing powder today, not sure if I had stomach issues after because I did the full tablespoon or because of something I ate the night before. I was reading the reviews and you said something about starting with a teaspoon a day not the 2 tablespoons is that correct? And if so what is your suggested amount of time to ease into the full dose of two tablespoons ?

    • lee

We recommend starting with 1 tsp a day to slowly ease yourself into it. Lee 🙂

Hi Lee, My 8 year old daughter has had stomach pain for the last 2 months and we can’t find any answers as to why this is happening. We started the elimination diet yesterday. My question is……is it safe to give to my daughter this powder? I’m end of my wits to finding answers. She has missed 4 weeks in the last 8 weeks.

    • lee

Its a raw plant based whole food not a supplement so is safe but always speak to your medical practitioner if you are worried. We recommend 1/4 tsp for kids initially. Lee

  62. Rated 5 out of 5

Just wondering how long this would need to be taken to ensure it has the best effect? I’ve got quite a few issues and would love to see if this helps me! Also would it be best to use it for a bit, give it a rest and then use it again? Is it possible to take too much?
    Thank you so much.

    • lee

It depends on the person some people see improvements whiting a week or two and others are longer. You can use it continuously as it is very gentle- take up to 2 TBS per day but start slowly with 1 tsp.

    Hi Lee,

I was recommended DE by a therapist (have overgrowth of candida very likely due to parasites caught in tropical rural areas, where I spent extensive periods of time). It took me a while to start, but I’m finally starting since last week!

I noticed mucous in the stools, is it a good sign?

Also, I get constipated every other day since I take it, do you think it is going to settle down after a bit?

Looking forward to send a great review!

Hi Lee, I’ve been using this for about 4 days now and felt normal as usual (no change in bowel habits). Then it suddenly woke me up during my sleep as I had pain. My stools had pinkish bloody discharge and mucous. Is this normal?

    • lee

Hello, no that doesn’t seem normal I would definitely have it investigated by a doctor. There have been no reports of this happening so I would seek medical advice.

It’s believed diatomaceous earth acts as a parasite preventative, so I kept taking it. It was about two weeks in that I began to notice some amazing benefits. My digestion is better, and for that reason alone I can’t fathom a time I’ll want to stop taking it.

I wanted longer, stronger hair, and I got it. My hairdresser of four years recently told me, “Your hair is the thickest I have ever seen it!” He wasn’t lying. My nails were suddenly ridge-free which—swear on my life—is something I can’t ever remember experiencing.

With such a high silica content (80 to 90 per cent), plus magnesium, zinc and calicum, my hair, skin and nails have never looked better.

hello, i have started taking HYG and feel an increase in energy and generally more alert. really feeling some great benefits!
i just have a question, is it ok to have it alongside reishi, shizandra and other medicinal mushrooms or can they clash?
    Thank you

    • lee

Hi Elie, I’m so happy to hear that you’re loving the powder! I don’t think there will be a problem with you taking the HYG powder alongside your medicinal mushrooms as they’re natural and shouldn’t interact. If you do start to have a problem, feel free to contact me or visit your local naturopath/nutritionist. Lee x

    hi Lee,

I’ve been taking the powder for about 1 1/2 weeks now.. I’ve been feeling pretty off and have been experiencing mild flu-like symptoms e.g headache, sore throat, sweats plus diarrhoea.. is this all part of the detox/ die off process? I’m not going to give up, but any insight into how long this period takes to get through or is it individual? and is what I’m experiencing normal? should I be supporting my body by taking any other supplements whilst I’m feeling lousy/ detoxing? thanks

    • lee

Hi Mia, how much powder have you been taking? It can be part of the detox process but I always recommend not starting off with too much so that your body can adjust to it. x

    Howard Roe

    Hello Lee
I was not confident about DE until I read your information.
I’ve suffered from haemeroids and fissures for years, within two weeks of taking DE the latest flair up of haemeroids has mercifully resolved.
    Thanks ever so much.

    • Lee

Hi Howard! Wow I’m SO happy to hear that. Thank you so much for sharing x

  99. Rated 1 out of 5

Could you tell me what is in it ? I can’t see the ingredients list …..

    • Lee

Hi Hanna, it’s just organic, naturopathic grade Diatomaceous Earth x

  100. Rated 4 out of 5

Hi, would this be suitable to have as a probiotic?? (:

    • Lee

Hi Jazmin, the powder is not a probiotic, it helps to gently clean out your insides. I recommend getting a probiotic as well as the powder as it helps feed and create good bacteria within your gut. Lee x

  101. Rated 5 out of 5

Hi Lee, Can you please explain how the Diatomaceous Earth is able to determine good bacteria from bad bacteria in the gut?

    • Lee

D earth is negatively charged so attracts the generally positively charged bad bacteria and heavy metals. It tones the gut so that future good bacteria is readily replaced.

Hi, I have read that DE should be taken away from food and medications……I take a high dose of gradual release Anti-depressant (which has to ba taken with food) and would not want this to be processed too quickly. Is this so, or is it fine to take close together? Thanks.

    • Lee

It’s ok any time but if you are worried you could use it 1 hour before or after food. Lee:)

Question – Candida is apparently caused by a low acid stomach but this says it’s to lower stomach acid , I’m so confused? I’m doing this to get rid of perioral dermatitis so need advice please thanks in advance, nicole

    • Lee

Candida is not due to low stomach acid it is an unbalance of flora in the gut. This powder is very good for improving candida issues.

I have drank it 2 times and threw up. 1st time 1 tablespoon, the second time half a teaspoon mixed with half a teaspoon of charcoal powder. How do I drink it without throwing up?

    • Lee

We haven’t heard of this happening before. I would take it away from Charcoal though. Also try a teaspoon and see if that helps it’s not a supplement so you shouldn’t have that kind of reaction. Lee

I absolutely love this! I’ve had severe bloating, diarrhea, constipation for the past 3 years and now no more! It really had changed my life. My only suggestion is to change the packaging as the zip lock doesn’t seal properly after opening! A glass jar or something else suit better!

    • Lee

I’m so happy to hear that! We’re working on new packaging at the moment 🙂

  112. Rated 1 out of 5

I’d really love to know why you repeatedly call DE a food (and a whole food at that). In my research, a substance can have a food-grade approval but it doesn’t actually mean it IS a food (it just means it’s safe to treat other actual foods with it). Plus, DE has no caloric value, whereas real actual foods do.

    • Lee

It’s classified as a food by Food Standards Australia New Zealand. They have approved it’s consumption to 6g a day – not as a ‘treatment to food’). Our recommendation on-pack is 4g or two tablespoons. We call it a wholefood as it’s straight from the source with no processing.

Is it possible to get this product in the US? I was going to order it and so excited until it told me that shipping is $60 which is more than the actual product. Can you recommend something similar that i can purchase here? please and thanks!

    • Lee

Hi Christine, I hope you’re having a nice day! We’re looking for distributors in the USA so it will be available to you very shortly. I’ll send you an email once it’s finalised and you’ll be able to order it x

Can you also inform me when it will be available in the US. I would love to try! And is it good for autoimmune disease?

    • Lee

Hi Kathy, it’s going to be available in the United States very soon. I’ll send you an email when it’s available! x
