Description
Did you know you have over ten metres of small and large intestines? And both have turns and kinks throughout. All food and drink travel through this system and disperse nutrition and hydration. But with today’s diet and hectic lifestyle the intestines may develop a build-up of waste products such as plaque, acids, mucus, fungus and bacteria. This may result in a poor, inefficient digestion, lack of nutrient absorption and a build-up of gas, wind and bloating. Clean, efficient intestines may lead to better digestion, waste removal and nutrient absorption.

Hi Claire, We suggest 1 level tablespoon twice a day before meals. Follow with plenty of water through the day. There’s 200g which amounts to at least 4-6 weeks of powder.

Hi,
I’ve just ordered this product as I suspect a parasite in my gut. Am very much looking forward to receiving & using it! I have a couple of questions though:
1: How long does it take to completely rid parasitic infestation?
2: Is it safe to give to my 2.8mth old also?
Many thanks,

It is a completely natural product but we recommend talking to your medical professional when it comes to children. It depends on the severity of the infection and everyone is different I have had people who have had great results in just four weeks but there is no definitive time frame. As it is a gentle product it can take longer than harsher treatments.

Hi Lee,
I am looking at trying this.
Just a question:
How many grams do you use a tablespoon? Just wondering, because I know 1 tbsp = 15gm thats almost 30 gms a day. I don’t see how 250gms would last 4-6 weeks.
Thanks,
Keren.

You need to build up to 2 Tbs a day but start with a teaspoon a day first. Some people use a tablespoon a day but if you really want to you can use 2 tbs a day.

Hi, Can you please explain the difference between naturopathic grade and food grade? Why is this not classified as food grade?
Reply
lee
| #
Our diatomaceous earth has been approved by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand. (They reassuringly have strict criteria so I can’t guarantee the few diatomaceous earth products on the market also meet their standards).
Grades
Like salt there are many grades – Celtic sea salt to pool salt. It’s the same with diatomaceous earth. Supercharged Food’s diatomaceous earth is food-grade and approved for human consumption at the dosage indicated on the pack.
Naturopathic-grade comes from the many naturopaths who recommend Supercharged Food’s diatomaceous earth. In my research for purest sources I worked with a number of Naturopaths to ensure the highest quality available. Supercharged Food’s diatomaceous earth is exclusively sourced from USA. I tried sources from around the world in over two years of research, composition analysis and testing. Our USA source was by far and away the purest.

Hi i suffer from an auto-immune disease called Ulcerative Colitis. I am not sure if you know much about it but it is similar to Crohns but it effects the colon. Hi Charlie, yes it can help in the sense it cleans very gently the gut so you can have more energy and absorb your food better and it gets rid of any build up in your gut. In regards to UC and pain and bloating ingredients can contribute to this so I suggest looking at your diet things like slippery elm and aloe are really good for soothing pain and bone births and good fats in moderation and anti inflammatory ingredients like turmeric. I have over 100 gut healing recipes in the book or some on the blog you might want to look at and try. Lee

There are different types of D-earth available… ours is food grade of the highest quality its like comparing sea salt to pool salt so ensure you are buying the right grade if you are thinking about purchasing it. Hi Lee, I’ve been using this for around 6 months now and love it. I have two queries ::
Just recently I was told not to take it alongside my other supplements ( I usually put it in my green smoothie with my powder probiotic etc to save time and so don’t forget them). Is this correct? Does it conflict with any supplements being taken at same time?
I was also told that it can unbalance gut flora if taken ongoing and that it should be used on and off to restore good gut flora in between?? Bit confused now. Is this correct?
Look forward to finding out so I can continue taking it. Thanks

From Angela; My chiropractor had been telling me that he was having a lot of problems with his stomach – constant pain, bloating, possibly IBS and his energy levels were extremely low. I recommended the Heal Your Gut powder, and when I saw him a week later, he was so thankful. He said he went home, told his mum about the powder, and she said that she had Lee Holmes Heal Your Gut book at home. So for a week, in conjunction with the powder, he started following Lee’s healing program. In just one week, he said he has felt better than he ever has. He has so much more energy, he doesn’t have the gut pain anymore, isn’t having the “bad” food cravings and generally just feels amazing, and has even lost some excess weight!!! He’s really excited to keep going with it for the next 3 weeks, to see even more positive results!

Hello,
I have tried adible bentonite clay before. Is your heal your gut powder similar to bentonite clay? I was wondering if the heal your gut powder absorbs lots of water and can become a cause of constipation. And I have heard Diatomaceous Earth can be used like clay mask or clay bath, can I use your heal your gut powder for bath and masks? And does Diatomaceous Earth have benefits for skin as well?
Sorry to ask many questions at once… But I am excited about trying your powder 🙂

I’m not very familiar with Bentonite clay. I have used d earth for over five years. It’s a raw wholefood (I’m not sure B clay is classified a food).
It shouldn’t cause constipation, most feedback says it helps people become more regular (it’s in no way a laxative though). Some people, however, may experience blockage when they start a detox regime
D earth is wonderful as a mask or in a bath. It has high absorbable silica so great for hair, skin, nails and soothing muscles.

Hi I am interested in purchasing this product but am very wary as I have read that if you inhale some of the powder it can damage your lungs and also the diamateous (not on your website) is described as having glass like shards that travel
down to clean up your colon. Hoping you can give me some clear advise. I have also read somewhere that it gets rid of parasites, but im not aware of how one would know if you have them or not, is there a specific test that is done for this. Thankyou

Hi Della, thanks for your interest in our D Earth powder.
Most relevant is our D Earth powder is highest quality food-grade. It is safe to handle and consume. It meets the strict criteria of Food Standards Australia New Zealand. There’s many different grades of D Earth and some are dangerous to inhale and consume as they have a different mineral composition (other minerals and/or chemicals are present)
Supercharged D Earth is very fine and gentle on your digestive system (again, some other grades aren’t the same quality). I liken it to an internal toothbrush for your intestinal walls. I’ve used it everyday for over five years with only great effects.

It’s believed diatomaceous earth acts as a parasite preventative, so I kept taking it. It was about two weeks in that I began to notice some amazing benefits. My digestion is better, and for that reason alone I can’t fathom a time I’ll want to stop taking it.
I wanted longer, stronger hair, and I got it. My hairdresser of four years recently told me, “Your hair is the thickest I have ever seen it!” He wasn’t lying. My nails were suddenly ridge-free which—swear on my life—is something I can’t ever remember experiencing.
With such a high silica content (80 to 90 per cent), plus magnesium, zinc and calicum, my hair, skin and nails have never looked better.

Hi Elie, I’m so happy to hear that you’re loving the powder! I don’t think there will be a problem with you taking the HYG powder alongside your medicinal mushrooms as they’re natural and shouldn’t interact. If you do start to have a problem, feel free to contact me or visit your local naturopath/nutritionist. Lee x

hi Lee,
I’ve been taking the powder for about 1 1/2 weeks now.. I’ve been feeling pretty off and have been experiencing mild flu-like symptoms e.g headache, sore throat, sweats plus diarrhoea.. is this all part of the detox/ die off process? I’m not going to give up, but any insight into how long this period takes to get through or is it individual? and is what I’m experiencing normal? should I be supporting my body by taking any other supplements whilst I’m feeling lousy/ detoxing? thanks

Hi Mia, how much powder have you been taking? It can be part of the detox process but I always recommend not starting off with too much so that your body can adjust to it. x

Hello Lee
I was not confident about DE until I read your information.
I’ve suffered from haemeroids and fissures for years, within two weeks of taking DE the latest flair up of haemeroids has mercifully resolved.
Thanks ever so much.

Hi, would this be suitable to have as a probiotic?? (:
Thanks

Hi Jazmin, the powder is not a probiotic, it helps to gently clean out your insides. I recommend getting a probiotic as well as the powder as it helps feed and create good bacteria within your gut. Lee x

Hi Lee, Can you please explain how the Diatomaceous Earth is able to determine good bacteria from bad bacteria in the gut?
Thanks
Reply
Lee
| #
D earth is negatively charged so attracts the generally positively charged bad bacteria and heavy metals. It tones the gut so that future good bacteria is readily replaced.

Hi, I have read that DE should be taken away from food and medications……I take a high dose of gradual release Anti-depressant (which has to ba taken with food) and would not want this to be processed too quickly. Is this so, or is it fine to take close together? Thanks.

Candida is not due to low stomach acid it is an unbalance of flora in the gut. This powder is very good for improving candida issues.

Help!!
I have drank it 2 times and threw up. 1st time 1 tablespoon, the second time half a teaspoon mixed with half a teaspoon of charcoal powder. How do I drink it without throwing up?

We haven’t heard of this happening before. I would take it away from Charcoal though. Also try a teaspoon and see if that helps it’s not a supplement so you shouldn’t have that kind of reaction. Lee

I absolutely love this! I’ve had severe bloating, diarrhea, constipation for the past 3 years and now no more! It really had changed my life. My only suggestion is to change the packaging as the zip lock doesn’t seal properly after opening! A glass jar or something else suit better!

I’d really love to know why you repeatedly call DE a food (and a whole food at that). In my research, a substance can have a food-grade approval but it doesn’t actually mean it IS a food (it just means it’s safe to treat other actual foods with it). Plus, DE has no caloric value, whereas real actual foods do.

Lee

It’s classified as a food by Food Standards Australia New Zealand. They have approved it’s consumption to 6g a day – not as a ‘treatment to food’). Our recommendation on-pack is 4g or two tablespoons. We call it a wholefood as it’s straight from the source with no processing.

Hi Lee, love your product but could you give your research on ridding the gut of ‘bad’ bacteria and helping with absorption. I would think that if it takes out the ‘bad’ bacteria it will also take out the ‘good’. Thank you Cate

Hello it separates the good and bad as it is highly charged with negative ions which attract the positively charged bad bacteria and heavy metals etc. Lee

Hi, I’ve just received your powder and look forward to using it. I have a few questions:
1. Do you stock in Canberra?
2. I am on a low histamine diet. Is the powder a low histamine food?
3. You mention earlier that you can take a probiotic with the powder to help with good bacteria. Is this necessary and is this what you have done when taking this powder over the past few years?
Thanks again ☺

Yes, the powder is fine on a low histamine diet.
Probiotics are great to replenish the good bacteria and help it flourish in your body. I’ve been taking a probiotic alongside the Love Your Gut powder for the past few years x
