Tahini and Chocolate Mousse

Tahini and Choc Mousse

Dig in… It’s all good.

What’s that word when you’re busting loose? Mousse Mousse.  There’s nothing like a little old school hip hop and chocolate to boost your mood. Hip hop and chocolate just seem to go together like Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five.

Speaking of chocolate, have you noticed how often it’s accompanied with bucket loads of the white stuff, sugar, it can be a real downer in the health department.

So, for all you hip hop fans and chocoholics out there, I’ve created a pop-locking recipe (a concoction of all-things-good-for-you), that tastes delicious so you and your crew can dig in guilt-free.

Tahini and avocado are jammed packed with good fats. Tahini is created from sesame seeds that have been soaked and crushed. It has a high healthy oil content, filled with omega-3s and omega-6s which are proven to help fight heart disease.

Avocado is a supercharged food which boasts an impressive resume, full of monounsaturated, good-fats it not only helps boost your good (HDL) cholesterol, but can help lower your bad (LDL), too.

All of these luscious good fats have another beneficial effect: they help your skin and locks glow.  Hooray for chocolate mousse!

Yo, and that’s not where the goodness stops. The chia seeds (which have more omega 3s than salmon!), are packed with naturally occurring antioxidants to help fight disease. The cacao powder is a wonderful source of vitamins and minerals such as potassium and magnesium.

No I don’t expect you to indulge in  mousse without a little sweetness, so I’ve used a sprinkling of stevia – a natural sweetener derived from the stevia plant. But if you have a favourite natural sweetener you can substitute with that.

I know having a mousse with tahini and avocado might seem a little odd at first, but try it and see. You see, a beautiful, smooth avocado, mixed with the tahini sauce creates a taste you may not expect. You can alter the texture of the dish by adding more almond milk (to make it smoother), or boost the sweetness by replacing the almond milk with coconut milk.

Give it a try and let me know if you’re down wit it.
